Overview
Fantasy Football is a production company dedicated to supporting an exclusive fantasy football league, offering comprehensive media and online digital coverage of league outcomes. From September through February, approximately 46 million sports fans engage in Fantasy Football, where virtual teams are assembled based on the real-life performance of NFL players each week.
Recognizing the passionate following behind these fantasy teams, we have embarked on a mission to enhance the experience by introducing an E-Sports version of Fantasy Football. This initiative includes live reporting of league standings and scores, allowing spectators to actively participate by predicting which teams will advance to the playoffs and ultimately win the season. By incorporating an E-Sports dimension, we are elevating Fantasy Football to a new level of interactive engagement.

Braodcasting Process
Our process for live broadcasting is designed to create excitement and increase audience participation by focusing on the outcomes within the league each week. We aim to enhance the experience for non-players (spectators) by delivering engaging content that keeps them invested in the league’s progress. Operating on a tight turnaround schedule, we ensure all videos are published promptly at the start of the new football week.
To achieve this, we follow a streamlined hand-off process, starting with our writers who craft compelling narratives based on the week’s events. These scripts are then handed off to our anchor for filming, and finally, our video editor works efficiently to finalize the content. This coordinated effort allows us to deliver high-quality broadcasts by Monday, ensuring our audience is ready for the new football week starting on Thursday.
Web Portal Process
To enhance our broadcasting efforts, we’ve designed a customized web portal for each league, allowing members to access real-time outcomes that go beyond what’s available on the ESPN app. Each portal is tailored to the specific league, featuring weekly broadcasts, prize announcements, and interactive game show hot prizes that encourage spectator participation. The portal includes essential league-specific information such as rules, schedules, and quick access to weekly standings, all designed to keep league members and spectators informed and engaged. We’ve also integrated a Discord forum within the portal, fostering an interactive community where members can discuss the season, share strategies, and keep the excitement alive throughout the season. Additionally, an online store offers league-specific merchandise, giving fans a way to show their support.Design and Update Process
- Initial Design and Development:
- Requirements Gathering: We started by gathering detailed requirements from each league to ensure the portal meets their unique needs.
- UI/UX Design: Our design team created intuitive and user-friendly interfaces, ensuring easy navigation and access to all features.
- Backend Development: The technical team developed a robust backend to support real-time updates, integrating with live broadcasting feeds, standings, and the Discord forum.
- Customization and Setup:
- League Customization: Each league received a tailored portal with unique branding, specific rules, schedules, and standings.
- Feature Integration: We integrated interactive elements such as prize announcements and game show hot prizes to keep the audience engaged.
- Testing with Leagues:
- Beta Testing: Before launching, each portal underwent thorough testing with league members. This included usability testing to ensure the portal was intuitive and met their expectations.
- Feedback Loop: We collected feedback from league members during testing and made necessary adjustments to improve the user experience.
- Ongoing Updates:
- Content Updates: Weekly updates are made to reflect new standings, upcoming schedules, and any changes to rules or prize announcements.
- Feature Enhancements: Based on user feedback and new requirements, we continuously enhance the portal with new features and improvements.
- Technical Maintenance: Regular maintenance is performed to ensure the portal remains fast, secure, and reliable.
Metaverse Engagement
Take Aways
- Leagues were most interested in content throughout the season, similar to social media snippets instead of a full news report of the play-by-play.
- Speed of production is most important for a product that follows a production timeline like the football season, thus, templating some of the content would be a must.
- Prizes and giveaways for spectators added to the excitement of the season and is needed to turn this into a larger e-sports experience.
